The biennial global ranking is a guide to which thinkers and ideas are in — and which have been consigned to business history. So which thinkers make the grade in the 2011? Who is the most influential living management thinker?
Many of these pivotal ideas have been published by the Harvard Business Review Group and four of these leading thinkers are joining us in a special live webTV show to discuss how their ideas are impacting the business world are:
Vijay Govindarajan, shortlisted for the Thinkers50 Breakthrough Idea Award for ‘ The 0 House’ — an idea he put forward in a 2010 blog that set off a campaign to re-invent housing for the world’s poorest people. Vijay coined the term ‘reverse innovation’ and his long-awaited new book on the subject publishes next year. VG is Professor at the Tuck School for Business, Dartmouth College, New Hampshire.
Herminia Ibarra is shortlisted for the prestigious Thinkers50 Leadership award. The Cuban-born INSEAD professor made an impact with her 2003 book, Working Identity. Now, her research asks: Are you a collaborative leader?
Columbia Business School’s Rita McGrath is an expert on strategic business growth in uncertain environments. Shortlisted for the T50 Strategy Award she is regarded as someone a CEO of a major corporation should turn to for practical and imaginative strategic advice. Her latest book is Discovery Driven Growth (with Ian MacMillan) which promises a breakthrough process to reduce risk and seize opportunities.
Linda Hill is the author, with Kent Lineback, of Thinkers50-shortlisted business book Being the Boss. She is also shortlisted in her own right for the T50 Leadership Award. Linda is the Wallace Brett Donham Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School and her current research looks at leadership for innovation.
