INTRO: The Government has appointed, Lien Thikeo, former Governor of Xayabury Province as new Finance Minister replacing Phouphet Khamphounvong who will take a new post as Minister to the Government Office.
STORY: A ceremony for announcing new Finance Minister was held at the Ministry of Finance in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad. The appointment of Lien was pursuant to decree of President Choummaly Sayasone on 3 March. When The Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad called on Minister of Finance and senior officials to work harder.
He said, we must actively implemented the resolution of the ninth Party Congress and the seventh five-year socio-economic development plan based on four breakthroughs, three directives of the Party and political ideology education for officials and also to improve financial system in line with the current conditions
Phouphet Khamphounvong expressed his congratulations to Lien Thikeo and expressed his belief that he would do his utmost to improve financial system.
Phongsavanh Sitthavong has been appointed new Xayabury Governor replacing Lien Thikeo, who had been in the post for eight years.,
